how install no bootable dvd drive

How to install with no bootable DVD drive?

Here's my problem.
I have a computer with dual drives. One drive is a CD drive, and the other is a DVD-RW drive. I have no floppy drives. The DVD-RW drive will not boot, but the CD drive will.
How can I install Vista from a DVD? I can only boot from the CD drive. Is there a disk I can use in the CD drive that will redirect the boot to the DVD drive and install Vista?
Also, I'm trying to dual boot it with XP. I've heard elsewhere that it's possible to install Vista from within XP by mounting the ISO image as a virtual drive... could somebody clarify?

I'm not sure about your bootings problem, however, I know that you can mount the ISO with DAEMON TOOLS at http://www.daemon-tools.cc.
After downloaded, right click on the icon in the taskbar > Virtual CD/DVD-ROM > Mount an Image and select the ISO file.
Hope this helps.

You need to set your DVD-RW Drive in your BIOS to become the first boot device. See link, the same instructions should be applicable to DVD Drives: http://www.windowsnetworking.com/j_helmig/bootcd.htm
You could also mount the ISO as a Virtual drive with tools such as Daemon Tools or NERO Image drive, but you have start setup from within another operating system. -- Andre Extended64 | http://www.extended64.com Blog | http://www.extended64.com/blogs/andre http://spaces.msn.com/members/adacosta "coolbho3000" wrote in message

Sorry, I realize you need clarification on the mounting of ISO: http://www.daemon-tools.cc/dtcc/daemonhelp.php?helppage=12#mounting -- Andre Extended64 | http://www.extended64.com Blog | http://www.extended64.com/blogs/andre http://spaces.msn.com/members/adacosta "coolbho3000" wrote in message

So, it is possible to install from within XP? Thanks for your time. I already have much information about virtual drives, and already have a copy of Daemon Tools.
I cannot set the BIOS to boot from the DVD drive. It 'tis the Dell BIOS' fault.
Sorry for the other post, there was an error message, so I made a duplicate post. Turns out the error was not real!

I had no problems installing and I have a Dell myself. However,I can boot from the DVD drive. After burning my DVD,i copieed all the files to a seperate folder and ran Setup from that folder within XP. I installed to a seperate partition and one hour from the start of setup I was installed and online :)
